MyHousing Instructions new student edition

You will get housing information via the Bloomsburg University email in October/November for Spring,
April/May for Summer or March/April for Fall, telling you how to get into your Apply Online and MyHousing.

Welcome to the Bloomsburg University campus housing experience!

Please refer to the student status description below that applies to you to determine when you should receive instructions to complete MyHousing which includes your online housing agreement, personal preference questions, roommate request(s) and dining plan selection. Fall/Spring housing agreements are binding for the full academic year (both fall and spring semesters).

  • Full-time matriculating students currently living on campus are eligible to continue living on campus. If you currently live on-campus and would like to live on-campus again for the upcoming Fall/Spring academic year, you must follow all information and instructions sent to you regarding the HOST process. If you fail to complete any part of that process or miss any deadlines, you jeopardize your opportunity to sign up for campus housing. The HOST process pertains to the upcoming Fall/Spring academic year only. Summer housing information will be available in April. Winter housing information will be available in November.
  • Commuting students or students who have moved off campus are eligible to live on-campus on a space available basis. Contact buhouse@bloomu.edu to request on-campus housing.
  • This program gives new students the advantage of coming to campus early and taking classes, which helps in the transition from high school to college. This program begins during the summer and continues when the fall semester begins. Full-time matriculating new summer prep freshmen are required to live on campus for the summer and fall/spring academic year unless they are over 20 years of age or are commuting from the home of their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) within approved commutable distance from campus (50 miles). If you are admitted as an on-campus resident, we will plan to house you for Summer and Fall unless you notify us otherwise. If you are admitted as a commuter student and would like to live on-campus, contact buhouse@bloomu.edu to request on-campus housing. You will receive information in March/April regarding Summer and Fall housing and will be instructed to complete MyHousing for Summer and again for Fall at the same time. Be prepared to follow the instructions regarding the HOST process beginning in December to secure housing for the upcoming Fall/Spring academic year. At that time, you will be considered a Current/Returning student to go through the HOST process.
  • We recognize that New Freshmen typically come to campus at the beginning of the Fall semester, however in some cases New Freshmen start in the Summer or Spring. Full-time matriculating new freshmen admitted as on-campus residents are required to live on campus for their first two semesters (if admitted for fall) or spring semester only (if admitted for spring) unless they are over 20 years of age or are commuting from the home of their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) within approved commutable distance from campus (50 miles). If you are admitted as an on-campus resident, we will plan to house you for whichever semester you are scheduled to start unless you notify us otherwise. If you are admitted as a commuter student and would like to live on-campus, contact buhouse@bloomu.edu to request on-campus housing. You will receive information and instructions to complete MyHousing in March/April regarding Summer or Fall housing or in November regarding Spring housing. Be prepared to follow the instructions regarding the HOST process beginning in December to secure housing for the upcoming Fall/Spring academic year. At that time, you will be considered a Current/Returning student to go through the HOST process.

MyHousing Self-Service

Housing Assignments: Students can submit a roommate request for the spring semester via MyHousing but we may not be able to honor your request. We normally only have spaces in rooms with current students, not completely open rooms, to house new spring students. If we are not able to house you together in the same room, we will try to place you in the same residence hall.

Learning Communites: If you are a new incoming freshman and are interested in our Learning Communities, please go to our Learning Communities section for more information and a link to the Learning Communities department website.
