MyHousing Instructions first-year student edition

New students will receive housing information and instructions to complete MyHousing Self-Service beginning in December for fall admits and November for spring admits. This will be sent to your home address and via Bloomsburg University email. MyHousing includes your online housing agreement, personal information questions, roommate request(s) and dining plan selection. Fall/spring housing agreements are binding for the full academic year (both fall and spring semesters). Spring housing agreements are binding for the full spring semester.

Welcome to the Bloomsburg University campus housing experience!

Please refer to your student status description below.

  • Full-time matriculating first-year students are required to live on campus for their first two semesters (if admitted for fall) or spring semester only (if admitted for spring) unless they are over 20 years of age or are commuting from the home of their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) within approved commutable distance from campus (50 miles). If you are admitted as a commuter student and would like to live on-campus, contact buhouse@bloomu.edu to request on-campus housing. You will receive information and instructions to complete MyHousing beginning in December regarding fall start housing or in November regarding spring start housing. Once you are living on-campus, be prepared to follow the instructions regarding the HOST process beginning in October to secure housing for the next fall/spring academic year. At that time, you will be considered a Current/Returning student.
  • Full-time matriculating students currently living on campus are eligible to continue living on campus. If you currently live on-campus and would like to live on-campus again for the following fall/spring academic year, you must follow all information and instructions regarding the HOST process. The HOST process pertains to the next fall/spring academic year. Summer housing information will be available in April. Winter housing information will be available in November.
  • Commuting students or students who have moved off campus are eligible to live on-campus. Contact buhouse@bloomu.edu to request on-campus housing.
  • If you are admitted as an on-campus resident, you will receive information and instructions to complete MyHousing beginning in December regarding fall start housing or in November regarding spring start housing. If you are admitted as a commuter or off-campus student and would like to live on-campus, contact buhouse@bloomu.edu to request on-campus housing. Once you are living on-campus, be prepared to follow the instructions regarding the HOST process beginning in October to secure housing for the next fall/spring academic year. At that time, you will be considered a Current/Returning student.

Please remember that when submitting the on-line housing/dining agreement, you are indicating that you understand the responsibilities that students undertake while they reside on campus.

If you do not complete and submit this information you will not be housed on campus.

MyHousing Self-Service

Housing Assignments: Students will be notified via BU email when housing assignments are available in MyHousing. Fall/spring roommate requests received on time will be honored whenever possible. We will attempt to honor spring roommate requests but due to limited open rooms, we may not be able to honor your request. We normally only have spaces in rooms with current students, not completely open rooms, to house new spring students. If we are not able to house you together in the same room, we will try to place you in the same residence hall.

Learning Communites: If you are a new incoming freshman and are interested in our Learning Communities, please go to our Learning Communities section for more information and a link to the Learning Communities department website.
