The overall goal of a Community Assistant is to serve as a peer educator and helper while facilitating the personal and academic growth and development of residential students. CAs are chosen on the basis of leadership experiences, interpersonal skills, interest in working with students to develop a positive floor/hall/apartment community, and willingness to be actively involved in their own personal growth and development. CAs are expected to live out the CORE Values of the Office of Residence Life: Service, Caring, Respect, Dedication, Integrity, and Inclusion.

To complete your application, please provide the CA Selection Committee with a glimpse of who you are and what you value. Be as creative as you want (i.e. magazine collage, drawings, poem, song lyrics, photos, quotes, symbols, etc.)
Your creative piece must have your name on it, fit in a 9" x 12" file folder, and be handed into the Residence Life Office in Elwell Hall by 4:00P on 2/6/18.
Please note: Anything submitted with this application becomes official part of your candidate file and may not be returned. Hence, do not submit any photographs or personal items that you do not want to part with.
Group Process (Friday, 2/9/18, 3:00P - 9:00P, Centennial Hall):
At Group Process you will likely be grouped with individuals you have never met before and will be asked to participate, as a group, in some activities so that our staff has the opportunity to see your skills, abilities, and tendencies when immersed in a collaborative atmosphere. Come prepared to meet a lot of new people, find out more about the position, have fun and show off your interpersonal and problem solving skills! Bring your calendar because when you check-in, you will also sign up for two interviews. (One on the following day and one over the next two weeks)
Interviews, Round One (Saturday, 2/10/18, Residence Life Office):
You will sign up for a 30-minute interview when you check in at group process. This interview will be between 8:00A and 6:00P. The individual interview will be with a team of Residence Life staff including professional staff, Graduate Hall Directors and Community Assistants. Please arrive 10 minutes early and dress in business casual attire.
Interviews, Round Two (2/12/18 - 2/16/18, Locations Vary):
You will sign up for a second 30-minute interview when you check in at group process. The individual interview will be with a team of Residence Life staff including professional staff, Graduate Hall Directors and Community Assistants. Please arrive 10 minutes early and dress in business casual attire.
